Ice Cube Declares His “No Vaseline” Diss Track As The Best Of All Time: “It’s Not Even Close” [Video]

When it comes to diss songs, Ice Cube feels like his “No Vaseline” track takes the number one spot.

In a recent episode of the Earn Your Leisure podcast, the renowned West Coast rap icon was posed with a question about his top five diss tracks. He wasted no time in declaring “No Vaseline” as the ultimate battle song, emphasizing that its supremacy is unmatched by any other contender. Cube proceeded to complete his selection of the top five diss tracks by including fierce offerings from notable artists such as 2Pac, Nas, Boogie Down Productions, and Kool Moe Dee.

“I mean, I would go with, you know, ‘Hit ‘Em Up’ is a good one,” he said. “‘Ether’ is dope. I would go with ‘The Bridge Is Over,’ and I don’t know, I think I gotta go with ‘Let’s Go.’”

Cube had previously asserted that his diss track aimed at his former group N.W.A “knocked ’em down like bowling pins.”

“I think Dr. Dre had just finished The Chronic and he was about to put out Doggystyle with Snoop Dogg,” he told The Breakfast Club in 2014. “We had a chance to really talk. And we never really talked about the song, you know? We still haven’t talked about the song. I mean, d*mn, they was disrespectful, too.

He continued,  “And I didn’t know that at the time they was already fragmented, breaking up anyway. So, that just — I guess knocked ‘em down like bowling pins.”

Following its October 1991 release, “No Vaseline” found its place on Cube’s second solo album, Death Certificate. Interestingly, Dr. Dre’s departure from N.W.A shortly after the song’s release, marked a significant turning point, ultimately leading to the disbandment of the group.
