What began as a sunny morning of laughter and summer break fun at Los Angeles’ MacArthur Park quickly spiraled into chaos when over 100 federal agents, including ICE, Border Patrol, and even military personnel, suddenly stormed the area. Families scrambled to safety as the scene shifted from playground to police zone within minutes.
Mayor Karen Bass wasn’t having it.
In a video shared to X (formerly Twitter) just before noon, Bass called the scene “absolutely outrageous,” and said she rushed to the park personally to confront the officers in charge. “The SECOND I heard about this, I went to the park to speak to the person in charge to tell them it needed to end NOW,” she wrote.
Footage from the scene shows heavily armed agents moving through the park’s basketball and sports courts. Some officers were even spotted on horseback, herding civilians out of the area like a military operation.

According to NBC 4, the agents arrived in armored vehicles, surrounding the park’s perimeter in the Westlake neighborhood. But federal officials have yet to explain what sparked the raid, or why MacArthur Park—a popular family space—was targeted.
When questioned, the Department of Homeland Security offered no details, simply stating, “We don’t need to comment on ongoing enforcement operations.”
