Ice-T recalls Jay-Z approaching him over alleged “99 Problems” beef.
In a recent interview with ‘Big Boy Neighborhood,’ the 65-year-old rapper/actor shared that Jay-Z spoke to him at the 2023 Grammys about the alleged issue.
If you’re not aware, Ice-T previously spoke on Jay not giving him credit for using his original track for the 2003 remake.
“I’m at the Grammys, and Jay-Z comes to me. He says, ‘Ice, you know I love you, right?’” Ice said. “I say, ‘Yeah!’ He says, ‘Well, it’s on the internet that you mad.’ I said, ‘I’m not mad! They’re bringing up all kinds of interviews about it, and they asked me the story, and I told them the true story.’”
Ice added that Jay said it was “no hard feelings.” However, the New Jersey still believes he should have received a “little dap or something.”
“But I said, ‘Yo, well, you know, when you did ’99 Problems,’ at the end of the record, you could’ve said, ‘Ice!’ You could’ve given me a little dap or something!’ I said, ‘But I’m not mad at it. What had happened was people wanted to know the story,’” Ice said.
“99 Problems” was originally released by Ice-T and was apart of his fifth studio LP, “Home Invasion.” The record also served as the foundation for Jay-Z’s 2003 hit “99 Problems.”
