Iconic Producer Timbaland Honored With Variety’s Pioneer Award To Highlight His Innovative Work Within The Music Industry

Timbaland is still getting his flowers for his influence in the music business.

On Thursday, the Pioneer Award was presented to the groundbreaking producer at Variety’s Miami Entertainment Town event to recognize his innovative work. At the event, DJ Khaled, a fellow producer, eagerly conveyed his admiration for the awardee before presenting the award.

“When I got called to do this, I was so excited because this guy is my brother,” Khaled began. “He’s an artist, he’s a CEO, he’s an amazing father, and he’s just a beautiful person all around.”

After accepting the award with gratitude, Timbaland delivered a speech in which he shared his personal journey and acknowledged the individuals who supported him throughout his career.

“I just wanted to tell you the beginnings of how I got here, and it’s because of people like Missy Elliott, GJ Khaled, E-Class, who welcomed me, Trina, all these people,” he said.

On the music side, Timbaland recently revealed in an interview that he and Missy Elliott were reuniting again in an upcoming collaboration.

“We’ve got a lot of songs we’re gonna start recording soon, and my dream is to have it out around her birthday in July,” he revealed. “We both look like we’re 19 again. I know how Missy works. It’s got to be new and fun.”
