If you still haven’t received your $600 stimulus payment- maybe you should check your mail for a debit card.
According to CNN, more than 100 million payments were sent out in January from the Internal Revenue Service. While a vast majority of the payments were deposited directly into personal bank accounts, many others were mailed as either a paper check or a prepaid debit card.
The IRS claims they are sending the payment out in three different ways to help speed up the delivery process. But they want the public to be aware that the mailed card is not junk mail.
Last year, some recipients mistakenly discarded their payments, and this year the IRS is warning people to carefully check their mail to be sure to that they are not missing out, just in case their payment may have been sent out in a different form than the last one they received last year.
Stimulus debit cards are being sent out in a white envelope with the Treasury Department seal on the outside. The card is a Visa debit card issued by the Treasury’s financial agent-MetaBank. You can use the card to make purchases or to withdraw cash at an ATM without being charged a fee.
