Iman Shumpert is asking a judge to toss his ex-wife, Teyana Taylor, in jail for allegedly disobeying their divorce terms.
According to In Touch, the former NBA player filed a motion for contempt on May 5th, accusing Taylor of violating their agreement by publicly discussing their split. In court documents, he stated that on March 12th, Teyana “willfully and contemptuously exposed and broadcast specific provisions of the final judgment decree of divorce and related provisions, recklessly disregarding the financial circumstances, privacy, safety, and security of the parties and their minor children.” He claims her actions harmed his reputation and income, saying, “The precise amount to be more particularly stated and proven at the trial of this matter.”
Shumpert also alleges that Taylor interfered with his scheduled custody pickup on April 17th and made disparaging comments about him in front of their children. He is asking the court to hold her in civil and criminal contempt, seeking a $1,000 fine and up to 20 days in jail.
Ironically, Taylor filed a similar motion in March, accusing Shumpert of leaking divorce details to the press after she was seen with actor Aaron Pierre, an incident she said led to online harassment. She requested identical penalties but later clarified she had “absolutely no desire or intent to have him jailed.”
Taylor filed for divorce in January 2023 after seven years of marriage, citing “cruel” treatment and “extreme narcissistic behavior.” The former couple shares two daughters.
