“As a woman who understands the importance of hair care. It’s disturbing to watch a child suffering from the lack of hair moisture,” says Jasmine Toliver, a woman who started a petition on change.org to have Beyonce & Jay Z comb Blue Ivy’s hair. “The parents of Blue Ivy. Sean Carter A.K.A Jay-Z and Beyoncé has failed at numerous attempts of doing Blue Ivy Hair. This matter has escalated to the child developing matted dreads and lint balls. Please let’s get the word out to properly care for Blue Ivy hair.”
Let me just stop here and say one thing. I am all for having an opinion. While my future daughter may not share Blue Ivy’s hair styles I am completely and utterly disgusted at how the hair of a two year old CHILD seems to effect people’s lives so much that they would go to the extent to create an awful, ridiculous, waste of time petition. First of all, what they do to Blue’s head won’t grow your edges. Be clear. Furthermore, our ancestors did not get sprayed with water hoses, attacked by dogs, shot in the head, beaten and hung so that we could use our rights to petition HAIR on a child. A child who has no bruises. A child who is developing properly…can walk, can talk, is fully fed & has no signs of abuse other than the fact that you don’t like the texture of her hair? What in the world are you missing in your every day life that a two year old CHILD’S hair makes you wake up in the morning to create a petition? Petitions are for social injustices and somehow you feel Blue Ivy’s HAIR needs one? Martin Luther King, Malcolm X and others who fought for our rights are rolling in their graves.
Fact is, you don’t have to like Blue Ivy’s hair. You know why? She’s not your child. She doesn’t have to be seen with you in public. We’re all entitled to our opinions but never forget that is someone’s baby. I’ve done worse over someone’s “opinion” on how I raise mine. Don’t assume that those words don’t hurt. Also remember that your hair and/or your child’s hair is not well kept and combed EVERY day. Remember that when you see Beyonce & Blue headed to their private jet that isn’t “out in public” for them. That’s the equivalent of someone seeing us running to the local grocery store with our PJ’s on. Blue has had her hair done several times and whether she’s tender headed, a fussy toddler or just doesn’t like bows in her hair, that’s HER hair. The only people who should be concerned is the Knowles-Carters and if it doesn’t bother them, why does it bother you?
If the upkeep of toddler baby hair bothers you so much, have a toddler baby and go do her hair. For the 1500 people who signed the petition, ask your supervisor for overtime, you clearly have too much time for your hands and for the celebrities such as Syleena Johnson who likened a toddler to ODB, never forget that this baby has more money and more Billboard chart success than you and she isn’t even potty trained yet.
