In Honor of Women's History Month! The 702 Bops We're Still Singing Today

R&B group 702 made waves in the mid-to-late 1990s and early 2000s with their infectious harmonies. In the early days, the group consisted of twins Irish and Orish Grinstead, their sister LeMisha and friend Kameelah Williams. However, Orish left the group early on, leaving the trio we know today as 702. The ladies shot to superstardom with their debut album, “No Doubt,” in October 1996. The album shot to No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers chart, with Orish even lending a hand to production on the project. Superproducer Missy Elliott also co-wrote & produced four records on the album, which went gold. Their self-titled sophomore album arrived in June 1999 to similar fanfare. The album cracked the Top 40 on Billboard 200, selling more than 500,000 copies, achieving gold status.

Though 702 disbanded in 2003 due to mismanagement issues and other disagreements, the ladies have come together in the years since. The trio occasionally performed together and even starred in BET’s “Encore” series. Despite what challenges they may have faced personally, including the untimely passing of Orish in 2008 and Irish in 2023, 702’s impact on the music industry continues to resonate, with their songs remaining staples in playlists and nostalgic throwbacks, and here are a few that we simply cannot live without.

“This Little Game We Play” Subway feat. 702 (1995)

“Steelo” (1996)

“Get It Together” (1996)

“Where My Girls At” (1999)

“You Don’t Know” (1999)
