India.Arie is speaking out again following the latest controversy surrounding comments she made about Joe Rogan and Spotify.
Following her Monday night interview on CNN with Don Lemon and reports that she accepted Rogan’s apology for using the N-word, the R&B singer told Baller Alert she “misspoke on CNN.” She explained her sentiment was meant to be that she never called Joe Rogan racist after posting the video of the podcast host using the racial slur over the years.
Arie clarified her statement saying she’s not spoken out about whether she believes Rogan is racist or not.
She tells Baller Alert, “I let the public make their own judgment on that.”
She also said she actually does not accept Rogan’s apology but thinks he “did well with it.”
“There’s no apologizing that would work,” Arie said. “Only changed behavior.”
The “Brown Skin” singer also took to her Instagram Tuesday where she explained, “This conversation about Spotify, Joe Rogan, me– it’s not about Spotify or Joe Rogan. It’s about my integrity. It’s about being who I am inside, aligning with who I am outside,” she said.
“And it’s about my dignity,” she continued.
She also addressed trolls who she said were “violently” responding to a person “just standing up for themselves.”
In the lengthy video, she also addressed censorship, how she does not believe in cancel culture and that she believed Rogan’s apology was disingenuous.
