We should all be grateful to have a roof over our heads during the quarantine, but photos of Drake’s Canadian estate, “The Embassy,” will leave you in awe. The 50,000 square foot home is breathtakingly luxurious and reflective of the rapper’s sense of style, design, and affinity for the finer things in life.
According to reports, the building of this home was a passion project for the rapper, who stated, “Because I was building it in my hometown, I wanted the structure to stand firm for 100 years. I wanted it to have a monumental scale and feel…It will be one of the things I leave behind, so it had to be timeless and strong.” The home is a mixup between a classic 19th-century limestone mansion with modern Art Deco design. The 44 ft. high ceiling great room boasts a Bösendorfer concert grand piano, and a chandelier that mimics the one displayed in the Metropolitan Opera in NYC. It holds over 20,000 Swarovski crystals and is the second-largest installation of its kind throughout the world.
You can catch a glimpse of his custom-designed canary-yellow lounge in his new music video for the hit song, “Toosie Slide.” Reportedly, his favorite room in the house is the 3,200 square foot master bedroom, which also includes an additional 1,100 square feet of covered terrace space. In an interview with Architectural Digest, Drake said, “The bedroom is where I come to decompress from the world at the end of the night and where I open my eyes to seize the day.” “The bed lets you float, the shower lets you escape and gather your thoughts, and the closet makes you want to talk to yourself while you’re getting dressed.” The base of his bed weighs in at a ton, the headboard consists of antique mirror and tufted leather, and the bedding includes an Alexander McQueen hummingbird tapestry.
In the master bath sits a 4,000-pound tub made of black marble and a two-story closet with enough room to display his massive wardrobe, sneaker collection, and Hermès Birkin bags that’s he’s been collecting over the years. Other rooms include a world-class recording studio, a room to display his lifetime of achievements and awards, an official NBA size basketball court, and an indoor swimming pool.
Drake’s home was a long time coming, dating back to 2015 when the rapper dropped $6.7 million for a plot on Toronto’s exclusive Park Lane Circle.
Quarantine and chill takes on a whole new meaning over at Drake’s house.
