Instagram Star Known As “Zombie Angelina Jolie” Gets 10 Years In Iranian Prison

A popular Instagram “model” who famously used makeup, filters, and heavy editing tricks to make her look like a zombie-like version of Angelina Jolie has been sentenced to 10 years in an Iranian prison.

According to The New York Post, 19-year-old Instagrammer, Sahar Tabar, whose real name is Fatemeh Khishvand, gained immense popularity on the app after posting distorted images of her mask-like face.

Tabar’s attorney confirmed his client was sentenced to 10 years in prison after being arrested for her social media activities. According to the Guardian, she was charged with corruption of young people and disrespect for the Islamic Republic.

Tabar was also charged with inciting violence and blasphemy in October of 2019, with three other IG influencers, but she was cleared of those charges.

Her lawyer argued that her medical records proved she had a mental illness, which included a history of visits to psychiatric hospitals, but that couldn’t prevent her from incurring this decade-long sentence.

“Her joke landed her in jail,” Masih Alinejad, an Iranian activist and journalist, tweeted. “Her mother cries every day to get her innocent daughter freed.”
