His mother, Nia Brown, has confirmed that he is safe, though she declined to share additional details.
Speaking with The Daily Mail, she said, “I can confirm Julian is safe, but in the best interest of his security, I’m not able to provide any more information.”
Public speculation began earlier this month after Brown shared a video with his 1.9 million Instagram followers on July 9.
In the clip, he spoke about facing unusual challenges and suggested he was being targeted. “Alright, listen everybody. I can’t go into too much detail, but there is some very, very odd stuff going on. I’m certainly under attack right now in many different ways,” he told viewers. He continued, “I just want everybody to know, so just kind of have your eyes open. I have my eyes open, but there is a lot going on. I’m still working, I’m still building—nothing is going to stop that. But I’m just telling you guys right now, be on the lookout because I’m under attack.”
Brown is best known for developing Plastoline, a process he says can recycle plastic into gasoline. His company, Naturejab, was recently profiled by Forbes in an article about innovative solutions to plastic waste.
Amid the online concern, the Atlanta Police Department was contacted regarding Brown’s situation.
The department confirmed there is no active investigation, stating, “Our department is not investigating this person.”
