NBA Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas recently joined Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green on his podcast. During the discussion, Thomas revealed an individual boy take that many people in NBA circles also believe. He claimed that the Warriors’ legacy and narrative would not exist without Kevin Durant, hoping it wouldn’t upset Draymond.

“Before Kevin Durant arrived in Golden State y’all were on the verge of pshhhh,” Thomas said as he showed his hand crashing. “And then remember the team that went 73-9 and lost to a Cleveland Cavaliers team in the finals you up 3-1 and probably one of the biggest collapse in NBA Finals history. Kevin Durant comes that summer and really saves y’all basketball legacy. You win two championships after that. The Golden State Warriors’ legacy is cemented. If Kevin Durant doesn’t come that summer, then you guys are remembered as the 73-9 team, all of your legacies are different.”

Kevin Durant is one of the greatest basketball players of his era. Since he left the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2015 to join the Golden State Warriors, he has often faced criticism and ridicule. However, it should be noted that Durant was the best player on both championship-winning teams, which is why he was awarded the MVP award. At the time, he was also considered the first or second-best player in the league.

As Thomas said, without Durant, their dynasty, and the lack thereof, would look different.

Take a look at the clip of the former Pistons Great.
