An Israeli couple was placed under house arrest Friday after a man died and another was injured in a sinkhole that formed at the bottom of their swimming pool. The incident happened at a home just outside Tel Aviv on Thursday.Â
The New York Post reports that the couple is suspected of causing death by negligence, according to police. The two, both in their sixties, were arrested Thursday night and released on house arrest Friday morning.Â
The homeowners hosted a private party at their villa on Thursday, which about 50 people attended. Video footage of the incident recorded by one of the attendees shows people poolside, with a handful of people in the pool, as water and floats vanish into the hole.Â
Two people were sucked into the sinkhole, but the body of 30-year-old Klil Kimhi was located at the bottom of the 43-foot deep hole.Â
Israeli media has reported that the homeowner built the pool without the proper licensing.Â
