An Italian man who claims to be an expert in holistic health attacked his two children while they were visiting him for Christmas— viciously slashing their throats as they tried to flee before committing suicide.
According to the NY Post, the 49-year-old man, Alessandro Pontin, committed the shocking murders in the town of Trebaseleghe, while his children Francesca, 15, and Pietro, 13, were staying with him for the holidays.
Pontin, a former carpenter, was separated from the kids’ mother and was spending time with them amid arguments with her about child support payments.
Authorities said the children were apparently asleep when their father brutally attacked them. They both tried to escape, but he caught up to them and slit their throats.
Pontin then killed himself and left a note in which he did not mention the children.
Family members said Pontin’s ex Roberta Calzarotto had recently asked to increase support payments as she found it hard to provide for the children on her single salary as a hospital nurse.
