J.Cole becomes the first rapper to receive his own cover on the NBA 2K special edition video game.
On Thursday, 2K Sports announced the Dreamville founder would be the featured athlete to grace the cover of NBA 2K23 DREAMER Edition. The new edition includes an expanded MyCareer mode that allows players to add music, fashion, and business ventures to their career journeys off the court.
“The sheer scale, depth, and talent featured in this year’s MyCAREER create an unparalleled experience within NBA 2K23,” Alfie Brody, Vice President of Global Marketing Strategy, said. “At the top of that list of talent is our first cover star who truly sits at the intersection of basketball and music.”

He continued, “Bringing a visionary like J. Cole and DREAMER into the creative process for both the game and the soundtrack showcases the pillar of culture that NBA 2K23 has become.”
In addition to his cover, Cole will play a huge role in the MyCAREER story mode on Next Gan consoles. The move marks the “the largest and most involved storyline in franchise history.”
Dreamville artists Bas and Elite will also be a part of the storyline to help players befriend the rapper and capture the hearts and minds of The City.
