J.K. Rowling Trends With #RIPJKRowling After Author Announces New Novel That Tells The Story Of A Cisgender Man Who Dresses As A Woman To Stalk His Victims

J.K. Rowling has been making offensive and controversial remarks about the transgender for some time now, and people are speaking out, telling the world-renowned Harry Potter author that she is going too far. One of those people is actress Cynthia Nixon who said Rowling’s comments brought pain to her trans son, Samuel, whom she revealed as trans back in 2018.

“We’re a Harry Potter family,” she said. “The books seem to be about championing people who are different, so for her to select this one group of people who are obviously different and sort of deny their existence, it’s justā€¦ it’s really baffling. I know she feels like she’s standing up for feminism, but I don’t get it.”

Her son, Samuel or Seph, opened up about being transgender on Trans Day of Action in 2018. “I’m so proud of my son Samuel Joseph Mozes (called Seph), who graduated college this month. I salute him and everyone else, marking today’s #TransDayofAction. #TDOA,” she wrote on Instagram back then. Rowling has been in the headlines several times in these past few months. The biggest moment was when she seemingly mocked an article called “Opinion: Creating a more equal post-COVID-19 world for people who menstruate.”

“‘People who menstruate.’ I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?” Rowling wrote in June. She received a slew of backlash, but the writer continued to make transphobic remarks. “I refuse to bow down to a movement that I believe is doing demonstrable harm in seeking to erode ‘woman’ as a political and biological class and offering cover to predators like few before it,” she wrote.

She continued: “So I want trans women to be safe. At the same time, I do not want to make natal girls and women less safe. When you throw open the doors of bathrooms and changing rooms to any man who believes or feels he’s a woman…then you open the door to any and all men who wish to come inside.”

On Monday, the hashtag #RIPJKRowling began trending after the author announced her new novel, “Troubled Blood,” that tells the strong of a cisgender man who dresses as a woman to stalk his victims. The book, which is the fifth installment in the “Cormoran Strike” detective series, is set to be published Tuesday. The news immediately gained attention from millions of naysayers and supporters. “JK Rowling keeps digging herself into a deeper hole with her new book Troubled Blood by digging in her heels on her transphobia and writing a book about a detective who is investigating a cis male who dresses as a woman to kill other women. All I can say is #RIPJKRowling,” said one user.

While another person wrote: “I can’t wait to read #TroubledBlood; meanwhile, a bunch of narcissists have started a #RIPJKRowling to show us exactly why JK Rowling is 100% correct to stand with women in our fight to keep males out of female-only spaces. Btw # can be reported as abusive. #IStandWithJKRowling.”
