Cavaliers’ JR Smith got into some trouble while he was in New York City to play against his former team last week. After the game between the Knicks and the Cavaliers on Friday night, Smith found himself outside of a pizza place in Chelsea, a prominent area of Manhattan. He was approached by a group of teenagers who asked him for a picture. Smith ignored them, which made the high schoolers mad and they started hurling insults at him.
According to cops, 19-year-old Justin Brown yelled at Smith, “That’s why New York kicked you out, yo!” That comment apparently didn’t sit well with him and the kids claim that Smith then pushed Brown against a building and put his hands around his neck. Cops were not called on the scene but Brown went down to the police station and filed a police report a few days later.
Smith’s lawyer maintains his client’s innocence and says the allegations are completely false. Smith has yet to be arrested for this alleged incident and for the time being, the Cavaliers indicate that he will still be playing in their upcoming games.
