J.R. Smith and Actress Candice Patton Welcome Baby Boy

J.R. Smith is a dad again!

The former NBA star, who is still legally married to his wife, Shirley “Jewel” Smith, recently welcomed a baby boy with The Flash actress Candice Patton.

Patton shared the news on Instagram last Friday, posting a sweet photo of her newborn’s tiny feet. In the caption, Patton wrote, “Son in Virgo. Born at home. Heart now beats outside of my chest. In love forevermore 💕👣,” without specifying the child’s father.

The next day, both Patton and J.R. posted more photos of the baby on their joint Instagram post, with the newborn’s face covered by emojis.

This news caught fans off guard, as J.R. is still married to Shirley, with whom he shares two daughters, Dakota, 7, and Denver, 4. The couple’s relationship became the subject of headlines back in 2019 when Shirley publicly addressed the affair between J.R. and Patton. Shirley posted a video on Instagram, where she prayed for both her husband and Patton, asking for peace and grace for everyone involved. Not long after, J.R. responded by stating that he and Shirley had been separated for months at the time.

Despite the publicized affair, J.R. and Shirley remain married. The former Cleveland Cavaliers player and Candice Patton, who were first linked in 2019 after being seen together at a Halloween party, now share their first child together.
