Jackson Mahomes, the younger brother of Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, is under investigation after being accused of multiple assaults at a Kansas bar last weekend.Â
Mahomes, 22, allegedly shoved a male waiter at Aspens Restaurant and Lounge more than once and then forcibly kissed the establishment’s female owner.Â
While authorities have not released a report on the incident, according to restaurant owner Aspen Vaughn, they are reviewing surveillance footage from last Saturday night. Vaughn told The Kansas City Star that she believes Mahomes’ was intoxicated and that actions were unwelcome and unexpected.
The waiter, who asked not to be named in the article, said the incident started when Mahomes entered the restaurant’s office. He denied the waiter access to a water bottle, and things got physical when Vaughn tried to speak to him about it. Vaughn provided a video to the outlet that purportedly shows Mahomes grabbing her by the throat and kissing her twice.
She says that Mahomes is a frequent visitor to the restaurant as a friend of her stepdaughter, who works there. Vaughn had previously posted a photo of her stepdaughter and Mahomes to Facebook, calling him a “good kid.” But, Vaughn described some of Mahomes’ visits as disruptive and said he has treated the staff at Aspens poorly.Â
“I would say one out of four times he comes in, it’s not a good experience,” she said.
The police department issued a statement to The Star regarding the incident, noting that they are still investigating.Â
“The Police Department is aware of an incident that occurred on Feb. 25, 2023, at a business near 151st and Metcalf,” the statement read. “The department is still investigating. Releasing any additional information would be inappropriate at this time. Anyone with information should contact the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.”
Vaughn has provided a statement to the police, and a case number has been created. She was told that police planned to pursue her alleged sexual assault. The waiter has not filed any charges against Mahomes and is undecided about doing so. Â
Brandan Davies, an attorney for Mahomes, denied the allegations.Â
“Jackson has done nothing wrong,” he said in a statement. “Our investigation has revealed substantial evidence refuting the claims of Jackson’s accuser, including the statements of several witnesses. We have reached out to law enforcement to provide the fruit of our investigation so that they may have a complete picture of the matter.”
Mahomes has gained a large social media following on TikTok and Instagram, where he has become a polarizing figure. He frequently posts photos with his famous brother and snaps taken on the field before Chiefs games. He’s also received criticism for his rude behavior, like when he poured water on Baltimore Ravens fans in 2021.
