The Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans’ game on Sunday took a shocking turn when Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence sustained a brutal hit on the field.

The incident not only took Lawrence by surprise but also sparked a chaotic brawl between multiple players that led to a handful of ejections. The incident occurred late during the second quarter, with just four minutes remaining on the clock before halftime. At the time, Lawrence was looking to gain yardage on a first down and slid to avoid contact. However, unfortunately, Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair gave an intense hit to Lawrence’s head and neck as he was going down. As a result, the hit left Lawrence stretched out on the field and his teammates in an uproar.
The rest of the Jaguars team quickly rushed to surround Al-Shaair with offensive lineman Brandon Scherff being highly vocal in defending his quarterback. The situation intensified as both teams bolted to the field, leading to a heated physical altercation that required officials to intervene.
As players were being separated, Al-Shaair and Scherff had to be restrained. When the incident seemed to settle, Al-Shaair and Jaguars cornerback Jarrian Jones were removed from the rest of the game due to their roles in the altercation. Jaguars tight end Evan Engram was also flagged for exerting unnecessary roughness at the height of the incident.
Nonetheless, Lawrence was able to regroup and sit correctly after the hit but later left the field on a cart. The Jaguars later confirmed that Lawrence did not suffer a concussion.
