In this week’s episode of Red Table Talk, Jada Pinkett Smith had a conversation with her mother Adrienne and her daughter Willow about when she took bad ecstasy that made her faint while on the set of The Nutty Professor.
“I’m a binger. … When it’s time to go, we gon’ go,” Jada said. “I wasn’t the type of person that was drinking every day. I was a weekend party girl. It was like, yo, Thursday to Monday morning, I would go.”
Jada added, “I had one incident on Nutty Professor. I passed out [in the] makeup trailer. I passed out. I went to work high, and it was a bad batch of ecstasy, and I passed out. And I told everybody that I … must have had old medication in a vitamin bottle.”
Jada was still able to continue working in the entertainment industry despite any struggles with substance abuse. Her story was a part of a larger discussion on drug and alcohol abuse.
Jada also included during the episode that she realized at one point in time that she was drinking too much. She included that now she tries to avoid hard liquor.
Willow shared that she controls the amount of weed that she intakes in a given time to prevent addiction down the line. They also had a liver specialist stop by to speak on the long-term effects alcohol can have on your body, along with women sharing the stories of their struggles with addiction.
