2020 is already looking to be a great look for legendary actress, Jada Pinkett Smith, as it was recently reported that Facebook Watch will be renewing her hit series, ”Red Table Talk.”
The show features Jada Pinkett Smith, her mom Adrienne Banfield-Norris and daughter, Willow Smith, discussing social quarrels in the company of celebrity guests such as: Tiffany Haddish, Ayesha Curry and Jordyn Woods. The show is based on the premise of sharing the perspectives of three generations.
Red Table Talk first aired in 2018, in which it was nominated for three awards, including a Daytime Emmy for “Outstanding Talk Show.” In 2019, the show won an NAACP award for “Outstanding Host in a Talk or News Series,” making it the leading series on the streaming network.
This new deal renewed Pinkett and Red Table Talk’s production companies, Very Tall Productions & Westbrook Productions contract for the platform into 2022. The deal also includes a spin-off of the series: Red Table Talk— the Estefáns, set to be taped in Miami.
The spin-off will be hosted by Latina legend Gloria Estefán, her daughter Emily Estefán, and her niece, Daytime TV Emmy Award winner Lili Estefán, maintaining the original show’s generational moniker, with celebrity guest features and cultural topics.
“I’m incredibly proud of Red Table Talk and thrilled to build upon this franchise with my family and Gloria, Emily, and Lili. Red Table Talk has created a space to have open, honest, healing conversations around social and topical issues, and what’s most powerful for me is hearing people’s stories and engaging with our fans in such a tangible way on the Facebook Watch platform,” says Pinkett-Smith.
