Today, Ex-NFL player Telvin Smith was arrested and booked into Duval County Jail for engaging in unlawful sexual activity with certain minors, according to the Duval County Jail website. Bail is currently set at $50,003.
The 29-year-old former athlete played collegiate football at Florida State University. After a successful college career Smith decided to pursue his dream of playing in the NFL. He was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Smith would go on to play for the Jaguars at the linebacker position until 2018. The following year, Smith took to social media to announce that he would not be playing professional football in 2019. He cited the need to “get his world in order” as his reason for stepping away for football. A month later, the Jaguars placed Smith on the reserve/retired list. On November 27, outlets reported that police were called to Smith’s home, in regard to a suspicious visitor.
At this time, no additional information on Smith’s arrest has been released.
