New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson has been named the 2025 NBA Clutch Player of the Year. Brunson and the Knicks were one of the best teams in the clutch throughout the NBA regular season.
They ranked fifth in the league with a 61% win rate. Brunson led the league in clutch points (5.6 ppg), according to the league’s “clutch” designation.
Brunson is the third recipient of the award. He also led the league in field goals made (52), ranked second in total points (156), and was third in total assists in late-game situations. Denver’s Nikola Jokic finished second and was the only formidable challenger according to the votes. Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards finished third.
Brunson joined TNT last night and discussed why he thrives in clutch moments.
“I think some people are born into it,” Brunson said when asked about having the ‘clutch’ gene. “I think I had to learn back in high school, and I’ve gotten better and better at each stage, and here we are.”
Brunson and the Knicks have a huge test in Game 3 against the Detroit Pistons tonight. It will be Detroit’s first playoff game in six seasons, and the energy will be high as the series is tied 1-1.
