For the eighth year in a row, Jamal Hinton and “Grandma” Wanda Dench are continuing their heartwarming Thanksgiving tradition.
It all started in 2016 when Dench mistakenly texted Hinton, thinking he was her grandson.
Since then, the family has become a social media sensation, and Hinton has been joining them for Thanksgiving every year.

Even through the challenges of the 2020 Pandemic and the loss of Dench’s husband, Lonnie, to COVID-19, the bond between the 24-year-old and 66-year-old continues to grow stronger.
Over the years, Hinton says he still gets texts from unknown numbers.
“Thanksgiving is around the corner, and I am still receiving texts from random numbers! Year 8 plans are set with a great surprise!!!” he tweeted.
In 2021, Netflix revealed its plans to create a feature film inspired by Hinton and Dench‘s unique and heartwarming friendship.
