Jameis Winston Calls On The Lord To Deliver Him From Throwing Interceptions [VIDEO]

It has been a tough season for Cleveland Browns fans. What began with high expectations has now spiraled into a disappointing 2-9 record after a heartbreaking road defeat against the Denver Broncos last night. Jameis Winston threw for nearly 500 yards and accounted for six touchdowns—but, unfortunately, two of those touchdowns were interceptions returned for scores, including the game’s final points.

Winston replaced Deshaun Watson in Week 6, and while the team’s offensive productivity has improved since then, his turnovers remain a critical issue.

After a big home win against the Pittsburgh Steelers last week, Browns fans hoped the momentum would carry over into another divisional game. While the team competed, they ultimately couldn’t secure the victory.

Winston’s tendency for interceptions is nothing new. He still holds the NFL record for 30 interceptions in a single season, set during his time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Ironically, Broncos head coach Sean Payton previously worked with Winston in New Orleans and helped refine his game. Over Winston’s last 30 starts in New Orleans and Cleveland, he has thrown just 17 interceptions—a marked improvement from his infamous season in Tampa Bay.

Still, 17 interceptions in 30 games highlight the risk-reward dynamic that defines Winston’s playstyle. When asked about the pick-sixes after the game, Winston gave a response only he could deliver.

“I am a better player… I know I’m better than this,” Winston said twice. “I’m praying for the Lord to deliver me from pick-sixes.”

It might take divine intervention to turn things around for Winston and the Browns. After last night’s rollercoaster performance, Cleveland fans may already be praying for a new quarterback.
