Jamie Foxx is back and feeling all the emotions after making his highly anticipated return to the stage.
The Oscar-winning actor and comedian recently performed his “One More Chance: An Evening with Jamie Foxx” shows in Atlanta, marking his first time on stage in 18 years. The show also served as a heartfelt moment for Foxx, following his serious health scare in 2023.
Foxx took to Instagram early Monday to share his gratitude and reflect on the journey that led him back to performing. “God is good… As I post these pictures, my heart and soul is filled with nothing but pure joy,” he wrote, captioning a series of photos from his Atlanta shows, including one where he appeared moved to tears. “On October 3, 4, and 5, I had the opportunity to tell my side of the story, and there was no better place than Atlanta, Georgia. I have to thank you, Atlanta—you showed up and you showed out.”
In April 2023, Foxx’s daughter Corinne revealed that her father had experienced a “medical complication” but was on the road to recovery thanks to swift medical intervention. Foxx spent months recovering, and in a heartfelt Instagram post, he later shared that he was “finally startin’ to feel like myself.”
Reflecting on his Atlanta performances, Foxx explained that his show wasn’t just comedy, but “an artistic explanation” of his life-changing health ordeal. He expressed his deep gratitude to Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta for helping him recover. “You enabled me to come back and be on stage and do what I love to do the most,” he wrote, adding the hashtag #secondchance.
Months after the health crisis, Foxx made a surprise appearance at the Critics Choice Celebration of Cinema & Television, where he reflected on the experience and how it’s changed his outlook on life. “I cherish every single minute now. It’s different,” he told the audience. He described the terrifying moment when he thought it might be the end: “It’s tough when it’s almost over, when you see the tunnel.”
Earlier this year, Foxx opened up more about the health scare while talking to a group in Phoenix, explaining that a severe headache on April 11 led to him being hospitalized for 20 days, a period he says he doesn’t remember.
