Earlier this week it was revealed that Jamie Sangouthai, best friend to Lamar Odom, died of an apparent heroine overdose. It appears that though his cause of death was drug related, it was not an overdose that took his life.
Reports say that Sangouthai had necrotizing fasciitis, a flesh eating bacterial infection likely from the use of dirty needles. It is that infection that ultimately led to his death. Doctors say that Sangouthai went to the hospital for his infected arm but necrotizing fasciitis is known to spread rapidly and is life threatening. A delay in treatment can cause a higher risk of mortality.
IV drug abuse was also cited in the autopsy report as a contributing factor in his death.
