Janet Jackson is once again proving why she is deserving of her “icon” status.

Her 1986 groundbreaking number 1 album “Control” just went #1 again in celebration of its 35th anniversary.

The album, which solidified Jackson’s place as a pop superstar, was produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and featured a bevy of chart-topping hit singles like, “Nasty”; “What have you done for me lately”; “Pleasure Principle” and “When I think of you.”

Janet took to social media to offer her fans an emotional “thank you” for returning her album to the top of the charts.

“I’m so thankful for all of you being in my life. You’re so special to me,” Jackson said. “I want to thank all of you for making ‘Control’ number one once again after 35 years. I never, never in a million years, would think this would happen. I really appreciate you and I love you so, so much.”

The return to the number 1 spot also coincides with a long overdue apology from Justin Timberlake, who took to his social media earlier this week in a mea culpa to Jackson and pop Princess Britney Spears. Timberlake apologized to Janet for the negative backlash she received after their infamous 2004 Super Bowl performance. At the time, Jackson was blamed and blacklisted for her role while Timberlake came out unscathed.
