Jas Prince Still Gunning For His Cut Of Drake’s Royalties

Back in 2012 we posted court documents filed by Jas Prince saying that not only has Drake’s management team and Cash Money been not been honoring their agreement to allow Prince to lead all negotiations, they also haven’t been paying him his 2/3 of their profits. Read about that here (CLICK HERE). Apparently it looks as though Jas is still not getting his checks and it’s getting even uglier because more lawsuits have since been filed.

Rumor has it, Drake has earned over 84 million dollars while signed to Cash Money. theJasmineBRAND.com has exclusively learned that music producer Jas Prince appears to be firing back at Lil Wayne and his company’s attempt to have his lawsuit thrown out for 22% of the profits — claiming they are not appreciative for the 40 million dollars he made them by bringing them the rapper.

As previously reported, music Producer Jas Prince — who just happens to be the ex-fiancee of Christina Milian — filed a federal lawsuit against Cash Money Records earlier this year. In the court documents, he explains that back in 2007 both him and his company Young Empire Music Group discovered Drake and signed him to Aspire Music Group . He says that then Cash Money approached them and they wanted to sign Drake, but to do so they had to agree to pay 22% of all Drake’s advances, net profits and other advances to Jas Prince & Aspire.

In the suit, Jas says that in November 2013, he was still owed a total of 5 million dollars and he confronted Cash Money about the money and then they sent over 1 million to his bank. However, he claims that he never received the remaining 4 million from the label. He then filed suit for the 4 million claiming CM breached their contract. Then on October 10th, Lil Wayne’s record label Cash Money reportedly fired back at Jas Prince. They claimed the deal they made for Drake was signed by Aspire Music Group and they were to pay them the commissions NOT Jas or his company.

Then on November 21st, Jas headed to court to fire back at the excuses by Cash Money on them not paying him millions. Jas explains that Cash Money can’t say they have no obligation to pay him because they have sent him millions of dollars from Drake’s music royalties — proving they are fully aware they are to pay him the money made. In the court docs, he says that as of July 2013, Drake has pulled in a total of 84 MILLION DOLLARS — to which Cash Money has profited a total of 40 million from that income. Jas says that Cash Money would have NEVER seen that 40 million if it wasn’t for him bringing Drake to them.

Jas and his company are demanding the legal battle for their 22% of the net profits that Drake’s music brings in continue on in court and Cash Money’s motion to dismiss the entire case be thrown out.

So apparently it looks like Cash Money gave Jas a little something to keep him quiet, but then again failed to continue to pay him.
