‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ Star Jason David Frank Dead At 49

Jason David Frank, known for his role in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, has died. He was 49.

TMZ reports that the actor and mixed martial artist died in Texas. The outlet quotes a source with direct knowledge saying his death was due to suicide. Frank’s death was confirmed by his rep, Justine Hunt.

“Please respect the privacy of his family and friends during this horrible time as we come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful human being,” Hunt told the outlet in a statement. “He loved his family, friends, and fans very much. He will truly be missed.”

Frank played Tommy Oliver on the original iteration of the Power Rangers from the show’s debut in 1993 and aired until 1996. In Season One, Frank played the Green Ranger, who was initially an enemy of the Power Rangers. His character eventually switched sides, becoming a good ranger. As his powers diminished, he became the White Ranger.

The actor starred as a lead in the series for three seasons, logging 123 episodes. He reprised the role of Tommy several times over the years.

His other credits include the ’90s series Sweet Valley High, an episode of  Family Matters, and an episode of We Bare Bears.

In addition to acting, Frank was a professionally trained MMA fighter. He fought numerous styles, including Muay Thai, Taekwondo, Jiu-Jitsu, and more.

He is survived by his four children.

Prayers to all of Frank’s family, friends, and fans during this difficult time.
