“The Chi” star Jason Mitchell, whose rise to fame is credited to his role in ‘Straight Outta Compton,’ has been cut from multiple projects over allegations of inappropriate behavior.
According to Deadline, Mitchell has been dropped by his agency, UTA, and management company, Authentic Talent & Literary Management. In addition, he’s been released from the Netflix film, “Desperados,” in which he had been cast as lead, as well as the forthcoming season of “The Chi.”
The decision to remove Mitchell came after ‘Desperados’ producers received a tip about an “alleged off-set incident” of inappropriate behavior. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Mitchell’s ”The Chi” co-star, Tiffany Boone, was one of several actresses who had an issue with the actor. Sources close to the situation say Boone made several sexual harassment complaints against Mitchell, to the point where she felt unsafe. In fact, for scenes she shot with Mitchell, Boone reportedly summoned her fiance, ”Dear White People” actor Marque Richardson, to the set. Following an immediate and thorough investigation into the claims, Mitchell was then fired from the Netflix film, which sparked a ripple effect of terminations.
In the meantime, Mitchell can still be seen on season 2 of Showtime’s “The Chi.”
