Jason Pierre- Paul has some words of advice to give to his colleagues in the NFL. Last year, JPP had an unfortunate accident that almost left the Giants player without a career in the sport he loved.
Last Fourth of July, following an incident with fireworks, JPP suffered severe damage to his right hand that left him without a few of his digits and the possibility of continuing a career with the Giants. Earlier in the off-season, the Giants had given JPP the franchise tag, but he never signed the deal. Later in the same off-season, Pierre-Paul had the unfortunate accident.
Without a contract and the possibility of not being able to perform at his current production level, JPP seemingly was up that creek that our parents warn us about.Fortunately Pierre-Paul was able to sign a one-year deal with the Giants.
This off-season he along with other veterans are giving cautionary-tales to the younger players and rookies. Pierre Paul took to his social media with the following caption “Just know I REMEMBER, and I will never FORGET”.
In an interview with The New York Post, Rashad Jennings feels that you should “remind them that they’ve worked their entire life to get to this position and find themselves in one of these buildings, and how it could be taken away so quick. You know, take advantage of it. It goes a long way when you hear it from players more so than coaches, so we have some veteran leadership that took the time to make sure we’re preaching it in the locker room ourselves.”
With a few weeks left before the official training camp starts, the newbies have plenty of down time. And with down time comes creative ways to use it. Hopefully, the players take heed and understand the risk associated with every single move they make henceforth as a professional player. The opportunities granted are things others pend their lifetime trying to get.
