Jay-Z has made history yet again, becoming the most Grammy-nominated artist with a total of 83 nods.
The Roc-a-Fella mogul was previously tied with record producer Quincy Jones for 80 nominations. However, with the announcement of the 2022 Grammy nominations, that total has increased to 83. Hov is nominated for Album of the Year by way of Kanye West’s “Donda,” a frontrunner in the category. He also scored two nominations in the Best Rap Song category for DMX’s “Bath Salts” and “Jail,” which also appears on “Donda.”
Throughout his illustrious career, the Roc Nation founder has won 23 Grammy Awards, snagging his first win in 1999 for his album, “Vol. 2…Hard Knock Life,” which spawned several iconic hits, including “Hard Knock Life” and “Money Ain’t a Thang.”
His legendary wife, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, has also made Grammy history, securing the most nominations of any female artist with 79 nods. She is also the most-Grammy awarded singer, with 28 wins.
Former Beatles bassist Paul McCartney comes in the right under Jay-Z for the second most nominated, with 81 nods, including two for the 2022 ceremony as well.
The 51-year-old was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame by former President Barack Obama, who also appeared in the rapper’s HOF tribute video.
