A judge has temporarily blocked Jay-Z’s attempt to have Rymir Satterthwaite pay his legal fees after the paternity case was dismissed without explanation. According to AllHipHop, the rapper’s legal team filed a motion requesting reimbursement after Rymir dropped the lawsuit, which had demanded a DNA test to prove whether Jay-Z is his father.
Jay-Z’s lawyers argued the case was “vague,” “legally insufficient,” and had been tossed out before. They also claimed Rymir’s legal actions, dating back to 2010, were part of a “long-standing pattern of harassment” allegedly orchestrated by him and his godmother.
Still, the judge wasn’t convinced and noted that Jay-Z’s team didn’t offer a solid reason why Rymir should pay. They have 30 days to refile with a valid explanation or risk having the request thrown out permanently.
Rymir later said dropping the case was a “strategic move,” accusing “celebrity influence” of interfering with his fight for answers. He insisted he isn’t looking for money, only the truth about his identity.
Although the hearing to dismiss Jay-Z from the case was also canceled, Rymir took to Instagram and made it clear that he’s not backing down.
