Hip-Hop visionary #JayZ will receive the ‘Special Recognition’ award at this year’s 29th Annual GLAAD Media Awards.
The 48-year-old is being honored for his acclaimed ‘4:44’ track, “Smile”, which featured his mother, Gloria Carter, publicly coming out as a lesbian.
In the song, Hov raps, “Mama had four kids, but she’s a lesbian. Had to pretend so long that she’s a thespian. Had to hide in the closet, so she medicate. Society shame and the pain was too much to take.”
