Jay-Z’s Roc Nation is bringing Mixtape, a new restaurant, to the Fairfax District on Tuesday.
The restaurant’s lead man is Jeremy Fall, a 28-year-old restaurateur who previously opened Nighthawk Breakfast Bar in Hollywood, Marina del Rey, Golden Box in Hollywood and Easy’s in Chinatown and Beverly Center. Fall is the first person to sign to Roc Nation’s company management roster. “I really wanted to make this project weird and different,” said Fall.
Mixtape is located on Beverly Boulevard; the building was once home to the 24-hour restaurant, BLD. Fall is also responsible for the interior design of the restaurant, which is separated into two sides, with one side as a bar and the other side is decorated with Fall’s own paintings. The restaurant also features art from celebrities like #QuincyJones, #VicMensa, and Incubus singer #BrandonBoyd. Others included are #Tokimonsta, #SerjTankian, and# JadenSmith.
Fall also collaborated with Yours Truly boutique owner #Phora for the staffs’ uniforms. #RobinThicke is expected to create a playlists for Mixtape’s weekend brunch service. The menu will feature several different cuisines like Tunisian, Caribbean, Jewish and French heritage. Some dishes that will be provided are merguez meatballs with harissa yogurt, pistachio dukkah, and zhoug oil; smoked salmon with cacio e pepe latkes and gribiche; fried jerk chicken sandwiches with lemongrass aioli slaw; cauliflower steak with red coconut curry; and caraway agnolotti with short rib pastrami and mustard brodo.
Guests will be treated with their own playlist pick when they order cocktails, which are based on mood ring names like “Fiery” and “Relaxed.”
