JD Vance is facing heat after a leaked audio recording allegedly revealed him expressing deep frustration over billionaire Elon Musk’s growing influence in American discourse, and it’s raising eyebrows across the political spectrum.
VIDEO
In the clip, Vance allegedly accuses the Tesla CEO of overstepping boundaries and acting like he’s a political leader, despite having no elected office. “Everything that he’s doing is getting criticized in the media, and he says that he’s helping, and he’s not,” Vance is heard saying. “He’s making us look bad. He’s making me look bad.”
But the remarks didn’t stop there. Vance called out Musk’s nationality, highlighting the tech mogul’s South African roots. “He wouldn’t like it if I said it, but he’s not even an American,” Vance said. “He is from South Africa, and he’s posing as this great American leader.”
The audio appears to have been recorded in a private setting, possibly among political peers, as Vance references being in a room with “portraits of some of the greatest men that ever lived in this country.” He continues, criticizing Musk’s public persona and influence: “He has the audacity to act like he is an elected official. I am an elected official. I am an important one in this situation, not him.”
Vance’s frustrations seem to boil over toward the end of the clip, even suggesting that Musk’s economic ventures, including his electric vehicles, should suffer consequences. “So if he wants to tank the economy and his cars, maybe that’s what he deserves.”
Stay tuned.
