‘Mr. Big Stuff’ Songstress Jean Knight Passes Away at 80

Jean Knight, the iconic ‘Mr. Big Stuff’ songstress passed away last Wednesday, as confirmed by her family.

In a released statement, Jean’s family celebrated her remarkable career, spanning from JetStream Records to Stax Records, and notably, her initiative in founding her own label, Comstar.

“Jean Knight’s legacy is not just a musical one; it is a testament to the enduring love between an artist, her hometown, and the fans who adored her. As we bid farewell to this iconic soulstress, New Orleans and her global fan base join together in gratitude for the indelible mark she left on the world,” the family said in a statement.

The singer was most known for her famous hit ‘Mr. Big Stuff.

While Jean recorded numerous songs in her career, none matched the success of “Big Stuff.”

Other notable singles include “My Toot Toot,” “You Think You’re Hot Stuff,” “Carry On,” “Helping Man,” “Do Me,” and “Jesse Joe (You Got to Go).”
