Jenifer Lewis Officially Has Her Star On the Hollywood Walk of Fame [Video]

Legendary actress Jenifer Lewis was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The ceremony took place on Friday and was streamed live from Los Angeles on the Walk of Fame’s website. Lewis was joined by family and friends, including Debbie Allen and composer Marc Shaiman. Lewis’s star became the 2,726th plaque on the world-famous monument.

Lewis accepted her star in the category of Television for her outstanding career that has spanned over 40 years. Her TV career alone has seen the 65-year-old appear in over 400 episodes in shows such as “I Love That for You,” “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” “Friends,” “Touched by an Angel,” “Boston Legal,” and “black-ish,” to name a few.

Stunning in a neon ensemble, natural hair flourishing, Lewis took the podium to express her gratitude for the honor and thank her supporters for “loving me throughout the years.” In her acceptance speech, Lewis got emotional when speaking about the moment she got the call that she was receiving a star. Lewis says the honor was so special because when she took a trip around the world and saw famous landmarks, she realized that the Walk of Fame was one of those special monuments.

“The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a cultural treasure,” she exclaimed.

“Here I am, a little colored girl from a small town called Kinloch, Missouri, and I will be etched in stone right next to Katharine Hepburn,” Lewis added.

Lewis has also starred in critically acclaimed films, including Tina Turner’s biopic, “What’s Love Got to Do with It,” and “The Preacher’s Wife,” alongside Whitney Houston and Denzel Washington. She received Image Award nominations for both roles.
