Jennifer Hough Sits Down on The Real, Speaks Out Against Kenneth Petty and Nicki Minaj

Kenneth Petty‘s assault victim, Jennifer Hough, and her attorney sat down with the ladies of ‘The Real’ on Wednesday for an exclusive interview. Hough addressed the 1994 assault as well as her lawsuit against Petty and wife, Nicki Minaj, accusing them of harassment and intimidation, among other things.

At the start of the interview, Hough was asked why she decided to speak out now, after being silent for so long, Hough said she was “tired of being afraid.”

“I feel like the actions that were taken in regards to this whole situation have put me in a different type of fear at my age now and it was wrong, and I don’t wanna be afraid anymore. So the only way to not be afraid is to continue to speak up.”

She then detailed the assault which she said happened in 1994 as she was on her way to school. She said she saw Petty at a bus stop from across the street. She said she he asked where she was going in which she replied she was on her way to school. He responded that he was doing the same. She said she then turned away from Petty to look for the bus or “dollar van.” She explained Petty then grabbed her and she felt something in her back and she assumed it was a gun. They began walking as she pleaded with him. They ended up in front of a house and that’s when Petty pushed the door open with his foot, and then pushed her inside the house where the sexual assault took place. Following the alleged assault, she broke away and ran to school where she told a security guard what just happened.

When asked if she and Petty were ever in a relationship, Hough said no.

She then addressed whether she ever tried to recant her accusations to which she implied her family was upset about threats and in order to prevent fear she was forced to go to the courthouse on Petty’s court date. When the district attorney spotted her, Hough explained her family wanted her to drop the charges. When it came time for court Hough said she stood up and said she wanted to drop the charges. The judge then told her to take it to the DA.

As the interview continued, Hough was asked if she felt justice was served, following Petty pleading guilty to attempted rape after he first denied the rape charges. Petty spent over four years in prison, according to inmate records.

“I don’t think I thought about justice, per se, because I was still blaming myself,” Hough said tearfully. “I thought it was something that I did or didn’t do. So I don’t think I thought about if I got justice. I just know he did what he did and went to jail and I had to leave my family, I had to leave my home and move away. I never gave it much thought.”

Hough also addressed rumors on whether she ever spoke to Nicki Minaj directly.

She claimed the rapper called her in March 2020 saying she got word that Hough was willing to help them out in a situation. She said Nicki offered to fly her and her family out to LA, but she turned it down.

In regards to harassment claims, Hough said people would contact family members and even approach her daughter in clubs. She also said both Nicki and Kenneth sent people to negotiate a payoff. She said she also received threats because she kept saying no.

“The last incident was when one of their associates put $20,000 on my lap and I still kept saying no. The last message I received was I should have taken the money because they were going to use that money to put on my head,” Hough said.

Hough’s lawyer then chimed in to say this associate was the same person who previously posted threats on Instagram aimed at Hough.

“Case is over now…Jon Wayne tv coming soon tell that b#### she will be expose case over now 20k huh…u know u don’t f##### uped (sic)…Jon wayne tv…you lying ass b####, 20 thousand,” the associate allegedly wrote after Petty reached a deal with the feds in August after he failed to register as a sex offender.

When asks what she wants out of this whole ordeal, Hough explained,  “To let them know that they were wrong. You can’t do this to people. You shouldn’t do this to people. He did something a long time ago and he had consequences that he was supposed to stick with. What they did to me and my family wasn’t ok. It wasn’t right and it doesn’t matter how much money you have. It doesn’t matter what your status is, you can’t intimidate people to make things go better for you. And that’s what they did. I want my daughters to know that as they grow, as they experience life as they come in contact with friends, family, strangers whatever, that they’ll have the strength to know that they have a voice, and they should use it. And don’t ever let anybody try to silence them.”

Representatives for Kenneth Petty and Nicki Minaj did not respond to The Real’s request for comment.
