Jennifer Hudson may have racked up a lot of coins during her career, but she is still careful on how she spends it.
On an episode of her self-tiled talk show, Hudson details how she learned tennis shoes can cost a few thousands of dollars. The singer started the show with telling her audience about her weekend which involved her being on “mommy duty.”
Jennifer shared how her 13-year-old son, David Daniel Otunga Jr., gave her a lesson on shoes.
During a shopping trip, Jennifer learned that a pair of $7,000 shoes were just sold at the store.
Stunned by the hefty price tag, the singer got an even bigger shock after David wanted a pair of Jordan 11 Retro OVO Grey Snakeskin shoes. It wasn’t the shoe that surprised her but the fact that it cost $20,000!
“What do the shoes do?!” Jennifer said to the laughing audience. “What it do? Is it going to drive me somewhere?”
David then pointed out that his mom’s shoes were fake, which is something Jennifer says she doesn’t worry about.
“As a kid, my brother and my sister loved gym shoes, and they would get the Jordans and name brands stuff,” she said.
The EGOT winner added that she would seek out the cheapest shoes and customize them to make them personal.
“I’m like, ‘mama don’t worry about, take me to Payless.’ Long as I’m wearing it, it’s it and then I’ll wear my own little thing where I would have plenty.”
She continued, “I don’t know about y’all, we got two outfits and then you got a shoe or two. I was not wasting my money on a shoe that cost $100. Ima go to Payless and ima get like five or six pairs, a hundred pairs.”
Well, it’s safe to say that David did not leave out of the store with the expensive shoes.
