Jermaine Dupri announces that he’ll be giving the commencement speech and receiving an honorary doctorate from The Art Institute of Atlanta.

On Wednesday, Dupri revealed that he’s giving the 2022 commencement speech at AI Atlanta. He also shared that he’ll be following in the footsteps of Ludacris and Dallas Austin. In addition, the So So Def producer says he will not only be giving the speech but receiving an honorary doctorate in Fine Arts.

Dupri has been a longtime supporter of the school because of the student’s creative talent and the unique programs the school offers.

“The students set to graduate from Ai Atlanta are unlike other graduates. They are truly super creatives. So it’s really exciting for me to speak to them and impart some advice on their special day,” Dupri says. “I hope they see me as proof that hard work and unrelenting dedication busts down doors and makes anything you want to achieve possible.”

Dupri rose to stardom in the early 90s at the age of 19 after discovering rap group Kriss Kross. Dupri has an impressive work history that includes essential contributions to the music industry. He also spent some time working with Columbia Records, head of Virgin Records urban music operations, and as the President of Island Def Jam Music Group. Today, Dupri has sold over 400 million records and is considered one of the most successful producers in the industry.
