On Tuesday, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones discussed the recent incident involving the team’s star running back, Ezekiel Elliott. Although Jones refrained from elaborating on the situation, he did say that he spoke to Elliott about his actions but he did not want to “speculate” about any consequences the baller could be facing.
Jones sat down with reporters at the team’s new headquarters to address the altercation that left a 30-year-old man with a broken nose. He discussed Elliott’s style and personality, mentioning that the baller is still young and learning how to handle fame. Although officials have not named Elliott as the assailant or confirmed his involvement in the incident, ESPN reported that the baller was indeed involved. However, Jones used the opportunity to address all the players, who may have been having trouble staying out of trouble.
“Your actions impact the entire team,” he said.
The Cowboys have had their fair share of troubled athletes, many of whom are currently facing suspension for their own actions. But, it remains unclear if Elliott will be one of them, as the NFL continues to investigate the incident.
“As you well know, because of his style and his personality, it’s like a rock star wherever he goes in terms of attention,” Jones said of Elliott. “Anybody that’s experienced that knows that takes getting used to. You have to learn many aspects of that. Certainly, Zeke is evolving and being subject to needing to learn how to deal with the media and social media the way it is today.”
