You may remember Angelina Pivarnick as an original cast member of the hit MTV show Jersey Shore. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Shortly after the show, she began working at the EMS’ Rossville Station on Staten Island.
While there, Angelina claimed to be subject to a sexually hostile work environment from 2017 -2018 due to the inappropriate actions of her supervisors, Lt. Jonathan Schechter & Lt. David Rudnitzky.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After facing retaliation and threats for filing multiple complaints to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Pivarnick decided to seek counsel and file a formal suit against the FDNY for the uncomfortably inappropriate behaviors she had been forced to deal with. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Questions and statements such as, “Your ass is amazing,” “I definitely would’ve kissed those amazing lips,” “How many guys on ‘Jersey Shore’ have you Sleep with ?,” were amongst some of the heinous remarks made to Angelina detailed in the 2019 Lawsuit. The suit also detailed an incident where Schechter sexually assaulted Pivarnick in a parking lot outside the station, making contact with her vaginal and behind area.
Now, just a year later, New York City has sided with Pivarnick, agreeing to pay $350,000 to settle the suit. According to the NY Daily News, a spokesperson for the city’s law department stated, “The FDNY takes allegations of sexual harassment seriously. However, disciplinary actions have not yet been taken against Lt. Jonathan Schechter & Lt. David Rudnitzky.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Meanwhile, lawyers for the reality star released a statement, saying, “Throughout this process, Angelina has been determined to see that justice was done — The City should redouble its efforts to protect the women in its workforce from sexual harassment.”
