Jess Hilarious is setting the record straight. The comedian and radio personality took to Instagram Live to address the tensions that arose when she returned to “The Breakfast Club” after maternity leave; revealing that she felt blindsided by some of the changes made in her absence.

During the candid live session, Jess made it clear that she had personally chosen Loren Lorosa to fill in for her while she was away. However, upon returning, she felt like she was walking into an entirely different dynamic. “I picked her to fill in for me,” Jess explained. “But when I came back, she was still there… and nobody told me anything.”
One of Jess’s biggest concerns was how the show had shifted during her leave, particularly regarding her popular Jess with the Mess segment. According to her, the introduction of Loren’s segment, Loren with the Latest, felt like a direct replacement. “I fought for that segment. That’s my segment. If Loren is doing it now, it should be hers. But nobody told me anything. I was just coming to work every day, completely out of the loop.”
Beyond the professional dynamics, Jess also touched on a much larger issue, being a working mother in entertainment. “In this industry, there’s never a right time to have a baby, so you just have them when you have them,” she said, emphasizing that while she was thrilled about motherhood, it came with unexpected challenges in her career.
She also spoke on the lack of support she felt from the team during the online backlash. “Not one person came to my defense,” Jess said, expressing frustration over being labeled a villain in the situation. “We’re supposed to be a team, but it doesn’t feel like that.”
The following morning, “The Breakfast Club” addressed Jess’s comments live on air, with DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God, Loren Lorosa, and Jess all having a heated discussion. It pointed out that Loren was originally brought on as a producer and not an on-air personality. Charlamagne, on the other hand, urged Jess not to let internet narratives shape her feelings about her role. “You can’t let the internet win,” he told her.
Despite the tension, Jess and Loren ultimately acknowledged that they had worked through their initial friction. Jess admitted she didn’t like Loren at first but later realized that her frustration was misdirected at the way things were handled behind the scenes rather than at Loren herself.
It’s clear that “The Breakfast Club” is still figuring out its dynamics after the departure of Angela Yee and the introduction of rotating co-hosts. As for Jess, she’s making it known that she won’t be silent when she feels disrespected.
