Former “Grey’s Anatomy” star Jesse Williams made headlines after going full nude during his Broadway performance, but the actor says it’s no big deal.
The 40-year-old is currently starring in the Tony-nominated Broadway show “Take Me Out” as Darren Lemming, queer baseball player struggling with his decision to come out in the revamped version of Richard Greenberg’s 2002 “Take Me Out.” During Monday’s performance, an attendee recorded the moment Williams appeared on the stage fully nude with a semi-erect penis. While Second Stage Theater has a strict no-phone policy, the attendee was still able to sneak the photo.
Though social media has been buzzing about Williams’ bare and rather impressive manhood, the actor said during his Monday appearance on “Watch What Happens Live” that he was not going to make a fuss about it.
“Everybody makes such a big deal,” Williams stated. “It’s a body. Once you see it, you realize it’s whatever,” he said.
Williams says the reaction to his penis has been mixed since the show’s run began. However, he says he does not overthink the crowd’s response which keeps him from becoming insecure. Williams also revealed that he didn’t want to know if his friends were in attendance, which would have made him feel even more awkward.
The actor may not be phased by his pecker hitting the net, but Second Stage Theater is dragging the person who took the photo and posted it, calling their actions “a gross and unacceptable violation of trust between the actor and audience.”
