Jessie Woo is not here for the drama, or the price tag, when it comes to getting her hair braided in Atlanta.
The comedian, actress, and media personality recently sat down with Ferrari Simmons and BT on The Baller Alert Show, where she let loose on a growing frustration that many in the beauty scene have quietly whispered about: the sky-high prices and lack of professionalism among some Atlanta braiders.
According to Woo, braiding appointments have turned into luxury transactions, with prices ballooning up to $1,500. And for that kind of money, she argues, the service should be elite, but instead, she says, clients are often met with rules, delays, and unprofessional behavior.
“I don’t got time for y’all h**s who act like your customers are your ops. It’s like the Ten Commandments on the front page. $50 late fee…If you 15 minutes late, $50 late fee,” Woo added.
She made it clear that she’s done playing that game. She’s now keeping her own stylist a secret, a Senegalese shop that charges no more than $300 and delivers consistent, professional service. Her comments have sparked a wave of reactions online, with many echoing her complaints. Clients and stylists alike have chimed in, exposing a wider tension in the hair industry where convenience and customer care sometimes take a backseat to money and attitude.
