On Thursday, the Grammy-nominated singer shared that her Pacific Palisades residence was destroyed by the natural disaster. Luckily, Aiko and her family were able to make it out safely, but the tragedy left her to rebuild her life from scratch.
In the social media post, Aiko shared images from the situation, with the flames consuming her living room. Alongside the post, Aiko expressed remorse for those who have been affected by the wildfires but remains grateful that her loved ones are safe.
Shortly after, she shared a video showing her scorched vehicle and the ashes where her house once stood. The only thing that remained was a brick wall.
Despite Aiko attempting to shed light on the tragedy, her candid posts have been met with controversy. Like many other celebrities who have spoken out about having their residences ruined, commenters believe that the amount of funds these high-profile individuals have should make it easier to rebuild. In response, Aiko defended herself in the comment section of a blog and explained that her years of hard work turned into ashes in a matter of a moment.
Nonetheless, as previously mentioned, Aiko is not the only celebrity to lose their home in the Los Angeles wildfires. Throughout this past week, several others including Paris Hilton, Monice Slaughter, and Mel Gibson have seen their homes engulfed.
